1520 Sedgwick Avenue is the Bronx apartment building where DJ Kool hosted rec room parties in the early 70s, is now about to be- well, history!The building is recognized as the official birthplace of Hip-Hop.
The announcement comes as a disappointment to tenants and housing advocates who tried to block the sale, the landlord is expected to pay off the building’s $5 million mortgage removing the property from an affordable housing program and making it eligible for sale in real estate market.
