an event like this could have been added to things one could expect in 09, but then again how many of hip hop heads still remember him? As someone with a ton of stuff to get out of his chest, 09 could be the year of Shyne
Back in the late nineties Bad Boy Records was peaking the charts... after the tragic Death of Biggie, Puffy released his album, signed Mase, signed The LOX, signed Black Rob... hell Puffy, (or Puff Daddy at the time, or was it Diddy? I digress) was even dating Jennifer Lopez (back then Angelina Jolie couldn't fuck with J-Lo) and this kid from Flatbush Brooklyn, born in Belize (Central America stand up!) was just signed to Bad Boy, he was as hard core as Biggie and had a distinct voice that lead to a lot of people to compare the two. He had swagger, flow, and personality... he was ghetto and he was capable to deliver singles for the pop charts, overall he had potential, even the video for his single "Bonnie and Shyne" featured actor Dean Winters as a FBI agent (google the man people, don't tell me I was the only one watching Oz back then). Then one night, shots were fired at a club in New York, details are still sketchy but the official story is this: A NY blood gang member threw money at the table were Puff, J-Lo and Shyne were sitting at, then he drew a gun... Shyne pulled out his and started shooting while Puff hid behind the table with J-Lo until a bodyguard came to his aid escorting them to safety... later on the cops detained Combs, and J-Lo where they spent the night in jail (after that their relationship was kaputz)... Shyne was charged with attempted murder... Combs and his bodyguard, Anthony "Wolf" Jones, were acquitted of all charges, while Shyne wasn't as lucky. To the eyes of everybody it was pretty clear Diddy turned his back on Shyne, who had just released his debut album. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, even so he was approached to be signed by G-Unit and Murder Inc (in the midst of their beef wars) he released an album while incarcerated, recorded a 50 Cent diss song from a phone in jail, and even had a video shot while he was locked up, still the album wasn't as successful as the first one. After that little has been known about Shyne... until now.
Known hip-hop website hiphopdx.com has published today that Shyne will be up for parole and very likely be released this year. My opinion is this news comes in good timing, Shyne has matured, and good music often comes after struggle and tribulations... and after his unfortunate run ins with the law, one can expect that the young kid from Brooklyn can still bring heat to the mic... I just wonder, has Diddy forgotten about him?
Shyne could be returning home in 09

Chaz thanks for the recap hace meses me estaba preguntando q seria de mi amigo Shyne jaja he's gon' be huge now after the locked up.
you know lady your theory of getting locked up means album sales is really filled with gaps... getting shot will get you platinum... everybody knows that! (lol)
To make my point I can pretty much surely give you at least two people who after jail are going to flop or have already:
DMX, Prodigy and Lil Kim
LOL:)
Yup!
