If you know your Hip Hop and/or music in general you know who Rick Rubin is but if you don't allow me to brake down the wikipedia article for you, LOL.
"Frederick Jay "Rick" Rubin (born March 10, 1963 in Lido Beach, New York) is an American record producer and is currently the co-head of Columbia Records. He is given credit for merging rap and heavy metal as well as producing the "American Recordings" albums with Johnny Cash. MTV called him "the most important producer of the last 20 years."
Rubin is a musician serving as the original DJ of the Beastie Boys, and a head of a record label, co-founding Def Jam Records with Russell Simmons, and later founding American Recordings. In 2007, Rubin was listed among Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in The World."
Practically all the records the man has produced is now regarded as a classic regardless of the genre. Anything from hard Rock to Hip-Hop, to even comedy albums (see Andrew Dice Clay), he is so good at what he does that, member that ill Line Dr. Dre spit on "Forgot about Dre"? Rubin could have flipped it and said "So give me one more Grammy award, fuck music you can have it back" (so far he has won 10, and the man is STILL on the grind). As of later years he has focused mostly on Rock, but he still has a keen likeness to Hip Hop, he produced the huge hit for Jay-Z "99 Problems" and was even featured on the dope-as-fuck video.
Recently it has hit the internet that he will be helping produce The Clipse newest record with at least two new tracks... Now, this might seem like much but it IS kind of a big deal. Member what 99 Problems did for Jigga, just imagine what it could do for The Clipse, a crew that is known for doing very dope music (except that Re-up gang record, I am sorry but that shit was highly disappointing).
