Know Your Beatz - DJ Premier

What up people,

Right after I posted the video bellow, I realized that we don't have an edition of "Know Your Beatz" about DJ Premo (DJ Premier) and that's just crazy because he is been making hot beats forever; just by listening to his beats I get that nostalgic feeling because it makes you go back to the essence of the Hip-Hop, with bets full of brakes and scratches and at the same time that unique NY/east-coast flow, so for me is a MUST to get some info for all of you on Premier.
Christopher Edward Martin a.k.a DJ Premier (born March 21, 1966 on Houston, Texas) was introduced to DJing while he was attending school at Prairie View A&M in Prairie View in Houston, his original stage name was Waxmaster C and years later he moved to NY to joined Gangstar as the instrumental side of the act along with rap MC "Guru", DJ Premier's style of production epitomizes the New York sound of his earlier peers. He is known for sampling jazz, funk, and soul artists, as well as sampling an artist's past work when creating a new track for that same artist. In addition, his encyclopedic memory of hip-hop lyrics allows him to distinctively speak with his hands by scratching in lyrics from several different songs to construct new phrases. Premier's non-Gang Starr collaborations are known for his oft-imitated combinations of short vocal samples, often from multiple artists, to create a chorus; the list of artists that have used premier's instrumentals goes from Jay-Z, NAS and Mos Def to artist like M.O.P, KRS-One and Rakim.
