Mosley a.k.a Timbaland, Originally a disc jockey known as "DJ Timmy Tim" on his home town Norfolk, Virginia, his career as a producer began when Missy Eliot discovered his unique style for the beats and started working with him for her R&B group "Sista auditioned" group managed by DeVante Swing, a well known record producer that was part of the R&B act Jodeci, later on, when Timbaland was brought to New York (where DeVante's Record label "Swing Mob" was based).It was DeVante who renamed the young producer Timbaland, after Timberland construction boots, which were popular in hip hop fashion.
