Daddy Yankee's endorsement of John McCain

Three for three, lol... You guys must be geting sick of me by now, but yo not to hog all the attention from you guys, but as a blogger I have to call "bullshit!" when I see it. Done reading? Can you believe it? I can, and to be frank it doesn't surprise me (well I thought better of Jay Leno, but that's a different story)... Now in order to keep an integral view on point of DY's stand in the coming U.S. election I do have to, let go of my predjudice of reguetón... I generally don't like it, never have and to be frank 'cept the exception of two or three artists (Tego & Residente from Calle 13 are ill emcees, straight up... I can't front, and yo I have to come clean I miss El General, he was dope) I really don't pay much attention to it, I have come to accept that the media call it the Latin Hip Hop (I wonder how Big Pun would feel about that), in other words i have come to accept it as a part of my world and NOT to hate it, even though is really not my thing... Hell, I even was against the marketing scheme that 97.9 is pulling of boycotting reguetón, is simple "Don't knock a man's hustle if they get paper that way, fine... don't like, don't buy it...
Now, Daddy yanke entered the US's political arena and publicly endorses the Republican candidate... I am typing it and still I am pretty dissapointed in this bullshit action... But Chaz why are you going to make an opinion on an election you can't vote on? some of you may ask.... well, I am doind the SAME DAMN THING DADDY YANKEE IS DOING... OK, Daddy Yankee CAN'T VOTE ON THE UPCOMING ELECTIONS, let me repeat that, Puerto Rico is a US territory and they don't vote (pretty fucked up, right? my opinion is they should) Now, the question really is, why is Daddy Yankee, a well stablished artist, who has made it big, coming from the ghetto, knowing what is like for latinos in the US, back McCain? well I have two ideas why... My first one is that, Daddy Yankee is an oportunist and he probably read somewhere while taking a shit, that in the polls a lot of latinos are supporting McCain... unlike africanamericans, latinos in the US are really divided when it comes to this matter... I believe, that most of them are fearful of loosing the oportunities they have found at Ameica so far... but how you going to back a guy who is someone that looks that under his breath calls us "spicks" everytime he is near one of us? Well... some do... and I know that most people don't read or are to lazy to think for themselves... a lot of people are blind to the facts and are affraid of change, can't hate them for that, but they need to open their eyes... sad but true. Now, back to Daddy Yankee, my guess is that he is seeing the tendency by latinos to back McCain and soemehow in that little Gasolina-drenched brain of his an idea was born... HEY LET'S GO WITH THE WHITE GUY WHO IS ALL FOR SENDING ALL LATINOS AND BLACKS TO WAR AND WHO WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ALL LATINOS DEPORTED TO OUR LAND OF ORIGIN!THAT WILL GET ME ACCEPTED BY REGULAR AMERICANS AND NOT JUST THE NEW THING THAT WILL BE FORGOTTEN BY EVERYBODY A MONTH FROM NOW... I'm sorry but Daddy Yankee's endorsement of McCain is no different than when Colin Powell tried to do the Macarena, and last time I heard no one did the see the macarena in public ever since:

My second theory is that Daddy yankee is a Nuevo Rico, he made his paper, he has a secure future for his family, he's a capitalist to the core, he DOESN'T WANT CHANGE... he has, in fact, sold out (Big Up to Fat Joe )... anyways, to summarize... My guess is that Daddy yankee did this only for publicity... he disspoints me deeply, and If I didn't like him in the past this doesn't change much, congratz Daddy Yankee, change has not happened here, I still hate your ass...
